Every Design has a story
Every Design has a story
A FASHION DESIGNER glamorous craft isn’t it? It is for high percentage of our race.
For me its a process which requires sleepless nights and stressful days where your non-stop thought process keeps you wandering around every possible detail, and from thousands of ideas you can select limited option for the desired results.
Yes I am a Fashion Designer or the other word to describe myself is I am a Thinker, who keeps thinking about every possible detail related to his designs and creations.
Sharing one similar incident, which helped me create one of my favourite designs. On 25th December 2017 I was reading about Ancient Greek Fashion (I love their silhouettes and Fashion of those times, have done a entire collection on Greek Mythology where I received 2 awards- this will share later in my future blogs). They are more into drapes and unstitched fabrics tied together with a single broach. Such elegant silhouettes.
Since that very moment my mind started wandering here and there looking for some concept, which I can use to design my current collection. I made few rough sketches but was futile as it was direct reference from Greek fashion, I wanted something, which is inspired from Greek silhouette but is Indian Look. I was determined like an infant who tries to walk but fell down hundreds of times and again tries to stand back.
One thing was fixed in my higher consciousness that — I want look which is inspired from Greek Fashion but is nowhere close to it, but gives an entirely new feel to Indian Silhouette.
Days passed but I couldn’t come up with any concrete design, which could support my concept.
On January 4th 2018 around 11:30 PM I was on the brink of getting into sleep. There I got some ideas flowing in from my Universal Mind to my consciousness, suddenly I extended my hands to pick up the small sketchbook, which I always keep by my bedside so that I can write ideas and make rough sketches anytime whenever I Want to even if I am in half sleep.
I made a rough sketch that night and finalized it in the morning.
On the very same day I started working on giving the life to my sketch, selected the fabric and send it for production. I was very excited and on every step I was monitoring my seed getting a shape of a beautiful flower. Within a week the design was ready and I was looking at it like a Mother who looks at her newborn.
It was exactly like what I wanted. A Greek inspired draped Indian Sherwani, which was nowhere close to Greek fashion, it was Indian Sherwani.
Amazingly fitted hand stitched Brocade Sherwani with a draped Silk under kurta for Unconventional Indian Look.
