Stay Voguish and dry this Monsoon

We all know about the busy Mumbai streets and now when its been dug all around for the Metro construction, we were struggling for the space on the roads to move our vehicles between autowalas who drive insanely like a rich spoilt toddler. And cherry on the cake is when the rains have started pouring and that too non-stop.

Now we are struggling for the space on the waterlogged streets left besides the wild auto drivers.

If you have your own vehicle then it’s the best thing you could have to go out and visit your loved ones in this weather in Mumbai.
If not then you’ll be left with only one option, to look for those tiny spaces to walk on the roads.

And when you manage to get the space in between all this there comes a speeding vehicle that gives a refreshing bath with the splash of the dirtiest water on the planet.

And if you are like me you’ll find some or the other reason every morning to not go for the work. If not then you’ll have to go through some serious adventurous moments till you reach your destination, where you’ll have to jump like Superman and have to be quick like a Flash and if in between you lose your passion and opt for a tiff you might have to become a green monster hulk.
But during these roller coaster rides you cannot afford to spoil your clothes.

I would suggest few things with which you can save your day from those unwanted stains on your clothes, body and your happy mood.
Firstly if it’s possible buy a Raincoat (jackets or long coats are must for your wardrobe) and umbrella so as to save you from any mishap. Then reading this entire blog is futile. If not and you want to maintain that fashionable look of yours and stay trendy and love to seek adventure in your everyday life then its OK you can keep reading.

There are few things you should pack in your bags and place behind the corners like Denims, jersey, silks etc.

Follow these tips to stay dry and fashionable this rainy season-
  • Opt for lightweight cotton or linen pants. Linen, cotton and chiffon are quick dry fabrics. Pick dark colours for the bottoms or roll it up till your calf to save yourself from the mud stains getting on your backside while walking through the sludge. Avoid getting muddy hems.
  • Girls should avoid jeans, long skirt; floor lengths dresses and go for Marilyn proof dresses. Experiment with shorter silhouettes. Avoid Sheer fabric dress. You can go bright this monsoon and have some lively colourful and fluorescent accessories in your wardrobe.
  • Monsoons get dark and gloomy so adding the colours like bright neon or lighter shades like ocean blue, sea green, cherry, watermelon, royal blue etc with the neutral shade bottoms is advisable and work wonders to uplift a person’s mood.
  • If you are a lover of denims and aren’t afraid of your sensitive skin and getting red rashes on your butt because of the wet denims and are brave enough to ignore it by putting a talcum powder or some skin cream. I would suggest you should go for the stretch denims that has got small percentage of Spandex in it, which gives you ease for the movements and is stretch so that it doesn’t stick to your skin. It also gets dries little faster than the conventional denims.
  • Avoid white and pastel colours and fabrics that are light weight, thin and have sheer properties without a raincoat to avoid that peek-a-boo situation when you get wet.
  • Men should go for cotton shirts; so many options for printed cotton shirts are available in the market and online.
  • Shorts and 3/4th trousers with rolled up bottom and pair it with a solid colour tee.
  • Pick footwear in which you don’t have to wear socks like flip-flops, floaters and Crocs. Slip proof sandals are advisable.
  • Crocs are the best option when you had to go out for a coffee date or for a movie, these are rain friendly and smart options for regular use. Though crocs are durable during rains but avoid these by teaming it up with Indian wear.
  • Girls should go for Gumboots, the rubber sole will help you have that grip on the slippery floors and will let you walk easily on that waterlogged streets.
  • Water proof handbags- We all have some essentials which we need in our Day to day activities like Pen, Wallet, important papers, documents and endless list of things for women to carry. So get one waterproof bag or water resistant clutches for you.
  • It is advisable to all the office goers that they should keep extra pair of clothing in their office or carry it in their waterproof bags. Which can save your day if you get wet on your way to that important meeting.
